What are the best blinds for a BATHROOM?
Make no mistake. It’s about steam and dampness. A perfect breeding ground for mould. The Bathroom is the room in the house you want to keep fresh and clean, a mouldy bathroom blind can ruin the look.
How do blinds get mouldy? Mould comes from dust and warm damp environments. A fabric blind as a bathroom blind will need to be cleaned regularly and dried completely to resist it becoming a mouldy blind.
1. Plantation Shutters:
Some Synthetic (and PVC) Plantation Shutters are specifically designed for wet areas. That is bathroom window blinds and Kitchen window blinds. Its ok if they get the occasionally bit of water on plantation shutters. Keep the dust off them and they will continue to be a great option for your bathroom blind. Even if they do get dust on them, and mould starts to grow, they are super easy to clean. Just wipe with a cloth. Often people think Plantation Shutters are too expensive, but considering most bathrooms are small windows, they really are the perfect solution for privacy and style.
2. Faux Wood Look Venetians:
Synthetic Venetians are ideal for a bathroom window blind. Many of the attributes of a plantation shutter in a bathroom also apply to the venetian blind. The one concern is the mechanisms in the head box. Make sure they don’t get wet at all or they could rust. The synthetic blades on the Faux wood look venetian are easy to keep clean and can tilt or be lifted completely to dry a room and let sunshine in.
3. Acrylic Coated Roller Blind fabric:
Less soft fabric, more stiff acrylic coated fabric is ideal for a bathroom roller blind. Again, not a blind you want to get directly wet as it has mechanisms that could rust. An acrylic coated roller blind fabric can be wiped clean with a cloth. With a huge range of colours, it gives you the opportunity for privacy and then opening the blind to allow sunshine in. Many of the quality acrylic coated roller blind fabrics are mould resistant.
