What is a Day and Night Roller Blind?

In Australia we have a few different names for Day and Night Roller Blinds, they are called:

  • Day and Night Roller Blinds
  • Dual Roller Blinds
  • Double Roller Blinds

In simple terms, they are two roller blinds on one bracket. Usually a screen or sheer fabric roller blind and a blockout roller blind operating (separately) from one neatly fitting bracket.

You can use a sheer or screen roller blind during the daytime. It offers you privacy and blocks the glare from a room. You can still see out of the window, but people cannot see in. You have privacy but you are not sitting in a dark room. Alternatively, you don't have the glare from the sun disturbing you from watching Television during the day or fading carpet and furniture.

At night you put the blockout blind down. Blockout blinds are best for privacy. The additional roller blind gives you another layer of protection and insulation against the heat or the cold. A blockout roller blind adds a different look for your room in the evening. With blockout roller blinds you can choose many different colours from white through to black. All still will be blockout. You can also choose textured fabric for your roller blind to give you another layer of warmth and cosiness for your home. A block out roller blind gives you privacy from neighbours and streetlights.

Can I motorise a Day and Night Blind?

YES! Day and Night Roller blinds usually come standard with chain operation. You can put the chain on either the right side or left side.

You can also motorise a Day and Night Roller Blind. You can motorise one of the roller blinds or both. They then can be operated from a remote control, iPad, iPhone, pre programme to go up and down at certain times of the day or from voice activation.

How do day and night blinds fit in the window?

We have special brackets that are slimmer than usual roller blind brackets. We can install the day and night roller blinds within the window reveal or install them on the architrave of the window frame. If we install them on the outside of the window frame, we can also add a custom pelmet over both blinds.
